Three Arc Carbon Micro Projectors, 20th Century,
English Arc Lamp by Westminister of London bearing a Patent 9225 1910 mark on the top and a 4088 stamp on the brass fitting; a German carbon arc micro projector microscope lamp, c. 1920, used in elementary chemical microscopy with a plaque at the side for Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, clockwork driven on cast iron base with rack and pinion adjustment to the arcs; an arc microscope lamp by an unidentified maker; and three boxes of arc carbon rods for micro-projectors.

Arc lamps produce light by generating an electric arc across two conducting electrodes, in these cases carbon rods. Used for street lighting, magic lantern shows, etc.

Westminster Arc Lamp, Powerhouse Collection, Object No. H7503 Leitz microscope is without a hood with bulls-eye lens. Arc rods have not been counted. Devices untested. All have wear and grime commensurate with age and use.
