The boulder is well carved with varying levels of relief on both sides. One side depicts a scholar accompanied by an attendant, crossing an intricately carved bridge with multiple support beams, over a rushing mountain stream, within a mountainous landscape surrounded by trees, that lead toward a pagoda perched on a cliff at the end of the bridge. On the reverse side are three figures walking along a tree lined path towards a bridge, which leads to a pagoda perched above a mountain waterfall. Inside the pagoda sits the scholar gazing out into the landscape.
