A Spanish Oak and Iron Domed Chest, 17th Century,
With elaborate iron work and areas of painted decoration. Dated 1683.

H: 22 1/2 W: 34 D: 20 3/4 in.

Condition

Domed top has multiple crack restorations with newer oak wood; areas of lighter wood in photo. Multiple rivets missing. Two broken lock latches, detached wood on front edge, lower right of dome. Losses to ornamental iron work. Center bottom iron corner fittings on the right are loose and detached. Losses to oak front lip, lower right. Missing key. Rear dome of trunk has wormhole damage. Hinges are intact and functioning. Iron strap work is detached, right bottom. Inside, bottom has two horizontal cracks. Losses to painted decoration throughout. Left and right handles intact and functioning.

Wear is consistent with age and use. All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
