London: Printed for W. Strahan and T. Cadell ..., MDCCLXXVII [1777].

A voyage towards the South Pole, and round the world: Performed in His Majesty's ships the Resolution and Adventure, in the years 1772, 1773, 1774, and 1775 written by James Cook, Commander of the Resolution. In which is included Captain Furneaux's narrative of his proceedings in the Adventure during the separation of the ships. In two volumes.

3 volumes: illustrations, charts, maps. Vol. 2 with Errata. With the volume of portraits bound separately.

Engraved portrait of Captain Cook by James Basire as frontispiece, 14 maps (6 of these folding), 47 engraved plates after Hodges (23 of these folding), 2 folding schematics, 1 folding letterpress table.

Bound in contemporary mottled leather with gilt borders, raised bands, red leather title label, green leather volume label, decorative gilt spine panels, blue speckled edges.

Very Good. Covers and edges slightly rubbed, corners bumped, some slight offsetting of text, plates, and maps.
