Our first timed auction of the year, features voluminous volumes and curious curiosities. Lot 126, Tielke's volume on the war between the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians, is from the Library of Thomas Howard, the British deserter and United States supporter. Lot 53 isJohn Greaves volume on the history of English weights and measures. Lot 1 is an Andreas Vogler sundial and compass. Lot 7 is a Young & Sons transit and tripod. Whether lost in a book or lost in the woods, there is something to keep the thrill of discovery alive in this short, sweet, auction.

8vo. Quarter-bound cloth with paper boards. 12 pp. publishers advertisements, frontispiece, with errata slip, 164 pp.

Each book is H: 7 x W: 4 1/2 x D: 1 1/4 in.

Poor. HUGHES has detached front flyleaves. Toning and minor foxing. Corners and panels bumped, rubbed, and scuffed, with losses to corners. BERZELIUS scuffed, at edges and corners, with slight losses. Significant toning and browning throughout.

Rear pastedown bookplate: "John A. Davidson" on BERZELIUS.

BERZELIUS ink inscriptions on front flyleaves "Jabey Mead's Oct 24, 1833" and "Smith Lay May 1836."
