The works by Mark David Gottsegen (1948-2013) reflect the great passion, complexity and humor of their creator. A talented artist, Gottsegen was a specialist in art materials and practices. He was a long time professor at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and author of the standard studio manual, ‘The Painter’s Handbook.’ This book is a reference tool for contemporary artists, providing them with the techniques to create quality artwork. Before his passing, Gottsegen founded the AMIEN, an online source of factual information about artist’s materials and practices. These passions are fully illustrated in the colorful and often humorous works by Gottsegen.
