Marquetry and Mother of Pearl Boxes, 19th/20th Century,
Continental mother of pearl box, possibly for snuff, has carved abstract concentric design in relief on the top and sides of the box banded in brass.
The marquetry box in a Middle Eastern style has a divided interior, probably for cigarettes, and is inlaid with repeated floral patterns in wood and bone in minute detail (micro mosaic).
1 3/4 x W: 7 1/16 x 4 1/8 in.
Brass is pitted with polish residue and marquetry box has a crack in the lid's outer band and some missing pieces along the top edge as photographed.
