Meissen Porcelain Soup Tureen Asian Decoration, 20th Century,
Form is in the 18th Century Rococo style with relief molded and gilded C scrolls and foliage. Polychromed with Asian motifs including tigers, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms in the Kakiemon style. Crossed swords mark.
Known as 'The Yellow Lion' pattern though the cat resembles a tiger.
The decorative design was first produced by Meissen in the early 18th century (c.1728) and was ordered by / produced for Augustus the Strong. It is inspired by the fantastic palette / designs of Japanese Kakiemon porcelain.
