A Rare Italian Simple Microscope, ca. 1715, In Fitted Book Form Box,
Unsigned. Brass screw barrel design. Mussenbrock style lens mount, eight objectives apparently molded and not ground, two eye pieces (lens missing from both), spring stage, large flat stage (perhaps a fish plate), small holes in edge, forceps, mounting ring for eye piece to use as a magnifier.

Contained in a fitted book form box titled Physique Nouvelle, bound in leather and painted paper.

Book cover box: H: 1 3/4 x W: 6 1/2 x D: 8 3/4 in.

No duplicate of this instrument is known.

Condition

Missing one U piece lens support. Bowing to book cover lid, scuffs to leather and paper, wear to spine of book.
