Rock-Ola 1937 World Series Arcade Machine, Mid 20th Century,
One of the most collectable baseball arcade games ever produced: a coin-operated 5¢ World Series Baseball machine, manufactured c. 1937 by Rock-Ola Manufacturing of Chicago, Illinois. A wooden cabinet houses an electro-mechanical baseball game. Nine original hand-painted figural cast iron players (depicting real members of the 1937 All-Star World Series team) stand at various stations on a field. Behind the field, a colorful cardboard lithograph stadium is printed with a full, cheering audience. For 5¢, the player receives plays until three outs have been reached. A key is included as well as 14 balls for play. Original cylinder dials remain intact. Original metal plate with serial number, model and type is attached to the side of the case. Included is a xeroxed copy of the original game instructions as well as a set of unused reproduction decals.

There is also areas of wear and paint loss to the interior: sun-fading and water staining to the cardboard stadium backdrop, areas of paint loss and repaint to the baseball players, surface grime, oxidation and areas of rust on the baseball field and scoreboard, as well as losses to painted surfaces of the field and scoreboard. Some surface grime and staining to cylinder dials. All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
