Service Station Attendant Automaton, Mid To Late 20th Century,
A plush and composite service station attendant, wearing a uniform for Standard Oil. This piece has been handcrafted and resourcefully outfitted using children’s clothing: a hand-painted face, shoes that have been painted black, a jacket and cap to which a Standard Oil patch has been applied. Stands on a painted wooden base. When plugged in, the attendant rotates at his waist left and right.

H: 39 1/2 W: 18 D: 19 in.

Proceeds to benefit the Summit County Humane Society and The American Cancer Society.

Condition

Areas of paint loss to shoes and base, some staining to base, wear, grime and use commensurate with age. Gray’s Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
