Our first timed auction of the year, features voluminous volumes and curious curiosities. Lot 126, Tielke's volume on the war between the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians, is from the Library of Thomas Howard, the British deserter and United States supporter. Lot 53 isJohn Greaves volume on the history of English weights and measures. Lot 1 is an Andreas Vogler sundial and compass. Lot 7 is a Young & Sons transit and tripod. Dobell publisher: Russell & Russell Inc., New York. 1958 [Facsimile]. 4to. Quarter cloth bound on marbled boards. Frontispiece, v, 435 pp., with illustrations.

Largest book is H: 9 1/2 x W: 7 1/8 x D: 1 5/8 in.

Poor. Books are scuffed, bumped, and rubbed, with losses. Toning throughout the Goring and Pritchard book. Goring and Pritchard lacking frontispiece, labeled plate I. Notes attributed to Dr. Robert Hooke lack autograph. Marshall Microscope diagram has cuts and tears, and pencil annotations.
