Our first timed auction of the year, features voluminous volumes and curious curiosities. Lot 126, Tielke's volume on the war between the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians, is from the Library of Thomas Howard, the British deserter and United States supporter. Lot 53 isJohn Greaves volume on the history of English weights and measures. Lot 1 is an Andreas Vogler sundial and compass. Lot 7 is a Young & Sons transit and tripod. Whether lost in a book or lost in the woods, there is something to keep the thrill of discovery alive in this short, sweet, auction.

Set of 4 books on guns and rifles, 19th and 20th century.
Books include: TENNENT, J. Emerson, The Story of the Guns (1864); FRASER REVIEWER, Another Story of the Guns (1864); BARRY, P., Shoeburyness and the Guns (1865); SHARPE, Philip, The Rifle in America (1938).

SHARPE is 4to, full leather bound with gilt and raised spine. Barry is Green cloth bound with gilt title on cover and spine, with embossed cover. Tennent is green cloth bound (possibly arsenic green cloth) with gilt spine. FRASER REVIEWER is gilt title on cover on maroon publishers cloth with embossed borders.

Largest book is H: 11 x W: 8 1/2 x D: 2 in. Fair to poor. Toning throughout all books. Slight foxing in TENNENT and SHAPRE books. Covers, panels, corners, and spine bumped, scuffed, and rubbed, with minor losses. Sun fading to Barry spine and top edge.
