Set of 4 British Gunner books. Early 19th century.
Books include: New Principles of Gunnery, 1805, by ROBINS, Benjamin (1707-1751); The British Gunner, 1828 (First and Second editions) by SPEARMAN, J. Morton; Hand Book on Naval Gunnery, 1898, by RADFORD, Cyrus.

ROBINS is 8vo, full leather with red ruled and gilt title. RADFORD is blue cloth, with guilt cover. First edition of SPEARMAN is half bound Moroccan, with marbled boards and gilt title. Second edition of SPEARMAN is blue cloth with paper title.

Spearman 1st ed.: xvi, 448 pp., with illustrations and tables, with index.
Spearman 2nd ed.: xvi, 448 pp., with illustrations and tables, with index.
Robins: xlvi, 341 pp. with publishers advertisements, 2 folding plates.
Radford: vi, 259 pp. with illustrations and 3 folding plates.

Largest book is H: 8 1/2 x W: 5 1/2 x D: 1 3/8 in.

Poor. Boards separated on first edition Spearman. Front board separated on Robins, with significant water stains, and toning throughout. Second edition Spearman signficantly bumped, scuffed, and rubbed on spine, covers, and corners, with losses. Pages of second edition Spearman warped from humidity. Radford scuffed and rubbed on spine and panels, with losses to head of spine and corners.

Stamps: "Officer Skolen" and "Kiobenhavn Det KGL Garnisons Bibliothek."

Ink owner inscriptions on first edition Spearman: "A. MacNicol from H. Straith 1830," and "Howood April 1864."
