A Smith & Wesson No. 3 American First Model Single Action Revolver,
44 caliber. Serial # 2237, 8 inch fluted barrel, single action, with blued finish and walnut grips. Rib and long ejector housing. Rib impressed mark SMITH & WESSON, SPRINGFILED MASS. USA PAT. July 10, 60, Jan. 17, Feb. 17, July 11, 65 and Aug. 24, 69. Six shot fluted cylinder marked 04 on rear face. Dent to silver semi circle front sight. Fixed "U" notch for rear sight. Marked 2237 on underside of grip.
Together with a tooled leather holster.
Overall condition fair. Barrel, frame and cylinder retain 30% of original blue. Surface scratches and corrosion. Wear throughout. Damage to screw heads. Dents and scratches to walnut grips. Hammer pull is stiff. Bore is bright. Surface wear to tooled leather holster, condition commensurate with age and use.
