Wolf’s Head Motor Oil Lighted Motion Sign, ca. 1950's,
A rare lighted motion sign advertising Wolf’s Head Motor Oil. The largest element of the sign is a piece of molded plastic with graphic of motor oil can and text: Wolf’s Head | The Uncommon Motor Oil! | Finest Of The Fine Since 1879. Above is a triangular prism with translucent plastic faces which rotates when the light is turned on to show three messages: Tri-Ex Refined, Scientifically Fortified, 100% Pure Pennsylvania. Maker’s mark for The Countryman Incorporated Co., Covington, KY. and dated 1956. Powered by an electrical cord which plugs into a standard outlet.
H: 13 W: 28 3/4 D: 7 in.
Proceeds to benefit the Summit County Humane Society and The American Cancer Society.
Both the lights and rotation functions are in working condition. Some yellowing and discoloration to plastic. A small break and hole in the plastic at the lower left corner of the molded plastic sign. Areas of paint loss and scratches on some of the letters of the rotating sign.
