A Baltimore, Maryland Federal Inlaid Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard, circa 1800.
The top with canted corners, above a case with a bowed frieze drawer, above a pair of cupboard doors, flanked by two concave cupboard doors, the front inlaid throughout with oval and rectangular panels, raised on bellflower inlaid square tapering legs, ending in cross banded cuffs.
H: 39 W: 66 D: 25 3/4 in.
Losses to mahogany veneer, losses to string, checkered, rope and cross banding inlay. Replaced backboards. Drawer slides replaced. Brass hinges and locks replaced. Locks function with keys. Original brass pulls with oak leaf. Surface scuffs, deep scratches and cracks to veneer. Previously refinished.
