Jared Mansfield was a professor of the first United States Military Academy at West Point, appointed 1801 by Thomas Jefferson. Mansfield was also appointed by Jefferson as the Surveyor General of the United States from 1803-1812. Very poor. Spine split at 255 pp. Front board detached. Slight toning throughout. Slight marginal foxing of front and rear few pages.

Plate 10 has string attachment for rotating inner circle of rectifier.

Bookplate at rear: "John A. Davidson."

Ink owner inscriptions: "Jared Mansfield, 1799" and "John A. Davidson, 1965."

Bookplate: "Edward Mansfield"

Pencil inscription: "F.W. Mansfield, 1880."
