A. J. Bormeester Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis Tabula, 1685,
A double hemisphere world map by Joachim Bormeester, a Dutch map publisher depicting the north and south hemispheres with the north and south poles at the top and bottom of the map, with classical allegorical images and border decoration.

The plate size is 18 1/2 x 21 3/4 in., with one inch margins all the way around that appear to have been cut down. The map is an original, with both older and more recent hand-coloring.

Condition

Tear near upper and lower center crease, see photos. Multiple creases. Repairs to center folio. Losses to pigment. 2 1/2 inch crack or tear to paper in lower right. Toning, pencil notation to verso, tears to outer margins. All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
