An Eugene Adrien Ducretet (French, 1844 - 1915) Mechanical Tabletop Orrery,
Painted circular stepped wooden base stamped Ducretet, Paris, the astronomical clock with gilt brass, mechanical sun, Venus and Mercury with papier maché Earth and Moon (detached) which orbits above a porcelain dial, which depicts month, day and year cycles.

Contained under a clear glass dome, which fits onto the base.

This orrery does not display the time of day, and is not wound up, but is rotated by a hand crank. It is not spring-driven.

Measurements: H: 18 1/2 x W: 13 x D: 13 in.

Condition

Moon is detached, oxidation to gears and fittings, surface wear and hairline cracks to porcelain dial, trim on circular base detached. Wear is consistent with age and use. All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
