Our first timed auction of the year, features voluminous volumes and curious curiosities. Lot 126, Tielke's volume on the war between the Prussians, Austrians, and Russians, is from the Library of Thomas Howard, the British deserter and United States supporter. Lot 53 isJohn Greaves volume on the history of English weights and measures. Lot 1 is an Andreas Vogler sundial and compass. Lot 7 is a Young & Sons transit and tripod. Books include: On Photography by SONTAG (1978); On the Advance of Photography by GARRETT (1911); History of Color Photography by FRIEDMAN (1944); Photography by NEBLETTE (1959); The Science and Practice of Photography by ROEBUCK (1920); The Complete Photographer by BAYLEY (1909).

Each volume is approximately 500 pp., with illustrations (some chromolithographs), and indices.

Largest volume is H: 8 1/4 x W: 5 3/4 x D: 1 3/4 in.

Poor. Loose pages in BAYLEY and GARRETT books. All books scuffed, bumped, and rubbed on spine, corners, and edges. Toning throughout. Dust jacket of SONTAG is torn in several places and scuffed.
