A Pair of Chinese Bone Tile Foo Dogs, 20th Century
Large sculptural seated foo dogs, or guardian lions, on stands covered with carved and ornamented bovine bone tiles. The foo dogs have painted eyes, woven brass bands accented with round multi-colored cabuchons, enameled decorations and hanging enameled pendants. On their backs they have woven brass ribbons accented with enameled decorations.
H: 20 1/2 W: 10 1/2 D: 13 1/4 in.
Foo dog with ball under paw has one tile missing at the bottom and rear of stand. (as pictured) All lots have imperfections or the effects of aging. Gray's Auctioneers shall have no responsibility for any errors or omissions.
